Muscle & Joint Pain

Musculoskeletal Pain – The Missing Piece

Often, we see women who have been dealing with back pain, sacroiliac joint pain or hip issues for years. They have seen numerous practitioners without full resolution of their symptoms. The pelvic floor is often overlooked when dealing with other seemingly unrelated issues and can be the missing piece to the puzzle.

Common symptoms or diagnoses seen:

  • SI joint pain/instability

  • Low back pain
  • Coccydynia (tailbone pain)

  • Pubic symphysis pain

  • Hip/groin pain

  • Sciatica/pudendal nerve pain

The pelvic floor does not work in isolation. It is part of the core; the pelvic floor connects with your abdominal muscles, your breath and activates with every single movement you make. Think of your core as the foundation of your house; if you don’t have a strong foundation, other parts of your home start to crack or fail.

If you have been dealing with pain or just feel like you can’t get to the next level of your activity, a specialized physical therapy evaluation may be the key.

The key to long-term success and resolution of your pain and symptoms is an individualized program that can easily be integrated into your current exercise or daily activity.

Neck and Upper Back Pain

We also treat neck and mid and upper back pain. Pain in the neck and upper back is often associated with poor posture. Think of your posture when you are looking at your phone, sitting at your desk and feeding babies. This repetitive posture can take it’s toll on your spine and muscles leading to pain, muscle tightness and even headaches.

We have more than 10 years of experience in ergonomic and workstation set-up for some of Maine’s largest companies. If you need a professional assessment of your work station in your home, We’d be happy to evaluate and suggest equipment and changes to optimize your comfort and posture. Contact us for details.
